The Ideal Playlist To Get You On Your Feet

I know that September just started, but I've been itching to create this playlist for longer than you could imagine. This month has been a weird one and while some new songs may make it onto this playlist, I can say for the most part that most of these songs did not come recently. Some of these songs have been old songs that I've re-discovered and some just never leave my playlist. Without further ado, here is my September playlist.

disclaimer: this list is in no particular order

     1. Normani - Motivation

When this song released it literally broke the internet. Everyone was talking about Normani’s incredible dance skill and how she came out on top after the ending of the girl group Fifth Harmony. If Normani’s high energy dancing doesn’t make you want to dance, then I don’t know what will.

    2. Why Don't We - Unbelievable

So, this is more of your traditional pop song that you can also dance to. The chorus is the part where I can’t help but dance along to the music video. You have to watch the video yourself to witness the contagious stomp move the Why Don't We boys [ Jack Avery, Daniel Seavey, Jonah Marais, Zach Herron, Corbyn Besson] do during the chorus.

    3. Skinny Fabulous, Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin - Famalay

For all my Carribean or West Indian people out there you know this song will start playing at any proper gathering. It's not just the beat that makes you want to dance. It's the expression in the words and how the song is all about valuing your family. The lyrics of the pre-chorus are ‘cause when we roll, we don’t roll alone.” Wherever you go, you’re never alone because family always has your back.

1. Billie Eilish - idontwannabeyouanymore

If this song doesn’t put you in your feelings or doesn’t make you the tad bit emotional, then I don’t know what to say. This sad song by Billie Eilish is all about her looking in a mirror and saying she no longer wants to be herself. I think a lot of people relate to the feeling of not liking yourself and wanting to change. That’s why this song is my go-to if I want to be deep in my feelings.

     2. SZA - The Weekend

This song is all about being the better side chick. Although it's not something I can relate to, I do feel empathy towards the lyrics. SZA’s beautiful voice and the deep meaning behind the words of this song are bound to put you in your feelings. I've been listening to this song on repeat for the last few days and just had to share this with you guys.

      3. Dean Lewis - Waves

This song is just so sad. It's a sad love song. The melody is sad and Dean Lewis’ voice is angelic. You have to listen to it yourself to see the effect this song has on your feelings. I actually tear up every time I hear this song.

1. PRETTYMUCH ft. Lil Tjay  - Lying

I've listened to this song every single day since it was released. There is one part that makes me cry at the gorgeous vocals, one part that makes me dance and another where I'm just left utterly speechless. Prettymuch is my favourite boy band and this alone can explain why. This pop song can easily make the top of any playlist.

     2. New City - Getting Closer

This pop song comes up on the radio so often that I forced to fall in love with it. It's your typical summer pop song. I imagine cruising in a convertible with my friend every time this song comes on. Although I don't personally know the band, I do enjoy listening to this one song. If you wanna feel summer vibes, this song is definitely for you.

     3. Kehlani & G-Eazy - Good Life

The chorus! The chorus! So, this song was released on the fate of the furious soundtrack and I just discovered it recently. I'm in love. I already love Kehlani and G-Eazy's' individual music. When they came together on this track it was just magic.

So this is obviously not my entire playlist, but it is a sample that can show all of you my taste in music. My playlist is ever-changing and will probably look completely different next month. But for now, if you ever see in my in public, I'm probably going to be listening to one of the songs above.
